Ashby de la Zouch has been given a grade 1 listing and the ruins are a splendid site. The building was given a 'Castle' status back in the 15th century, but the history of this structure dates back as far as the 12th century.

 

The building took on heavy damage during the English civil war, but there is still so much to see here and explore including the climbing the tower and bearing witness to the maginifcent views.
