Hello, and welcome to local days out,
The idea for this site came in 2014 when my family and I
were looking for something a bit different to do, we were
completely unaware how much was available to us. I had the same problem when I stayed in small hotels around the country, I would turn up having no idea what was in the local area.
Talking with friends who had similar issues, we all agreed it would be great if there was a website which brought everything together and showed us what was available. A few weeks later, on the 11/08/2014 Local days out was born and continues to expand, I hope it helps you and your family enjoy a great day out.
Kind Regards,
John and Aimee - Founder's of Local days out
About
Our History... Our Journey
The Idea
The idea is simple... show you activities available to you in you local area or an area you are visiting.
We aim to be clear, fun and simple to use.
First design's
First steps Early 2014
The idea was a simple one: 'Display whats in your local area'.
In Practice it's harder to bring everything together in a way that' to use, we went through a few design's.
Launch August 2014
In August 2014 Local Days Out was launched with only a few regions to start with. Have a look at our early designs, they're very different to what we have today!
Scrap that November 2014
After a few months of highs and lows and even lessons learnt, the principles were there but it was a bit... well... boring.
We had to take a different approach.
Start again January 2015
We then decided to go right back to basics and choose a design that is clear, fun and simple to use.
The catorgories were made less specific so you can now see at a glance what is available to you - although we did keep the colour scheme's.
First regions February 2015
We decided to add the regions we knew best, so Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Lincolnshire and London were the first 4 regions launched.
Our Future
The Future...
2015 and beyond...
We are looking to add more regions all the time and more activities with your feedback and recomendations.

City Breaks February 2014
After a trip to Rome, it was again apparant that we weren't aware of exactly were the best sites to see. We put together a new section for 'City Breaks' to show the top things to do whilst away. We started with Paris and Rome.
